George and Lennie's dream was to have a large piece of land all to themselves. They planned to farm the land and keep the crops they produced either to sell, or to eat. One of the many crops they would grow would be alfalfa to feed the rabbits they hoped to have. Lennie was the one that would tend to the rabbits. George wanted to have other animals too, like cows, pigs, a dog, and a cat. Their house was going to be just big enough for them with an extra room for visitors. They also planned to own a smokehouse to smoke things like salmon and pork. I don't think their dream was realistic because of how much they were being paid at the ranch. It would take along time to find and buy a house with all the property that they wanted. Even if their dream some how came true it would never be as spectacular as they hoped it would be.
However, I do think it is important to have dreams for the future, because it makes people strive to be they best they can possibly be. Although, when others doubt their dreams they start to get discourage, think that their dream really is impossible, and that it is a stupid dream. If dreams go unfulfilled for a long period of time people start to think their dream is only a fantasy and could never really happen. I think it is better to hold onto unrealistic dreams for little children. For example, lets say a little girl wants to be a princess or a boy wants to become a professional basketball player, we all know that these dreams are both almost impossible and are very unlikely. However, if the little kids were forced to face reality they might get involved with bad things or just simply give up.
